Bike rental in Polignano a Mare, delivered from Lecce

Polignano a Mare's old town sits directly on the limestone cliffs, and the coves north of it — Cala Paura, San Vito, Cala San Giovanni — are close enough together to ride between rather than drive from car park to car park. We don't have a shop in Polignano: we're based in Lecce, around 116 km (72 miles) south by road, about 1 hour 15-20 minutes by car depending on traffic (checked against multiple route calculators, August 2026). That puts Polignano a Mare outside our free-pickup shops — see the delivery section below for what it costs here and how it works.

For guided riding instead of self-guided rental, see bike tours in Puglia. For the full fleet and price list covering the whole region, see our bike hire hub for Puglia.

Delivery to Polignano a Mare

Delivery here is not free. Free pickup is available at our three shops in Lecce, San Foca and Calimera; delivery anywhere else is quoted on distance. Polignano a Mare is about 116 km (72 miles) from our Lecce base, so delivery here carries a surcharge based on that distance. We don't publish a fixed regional price table — the honest number depends on exactly where you're staying — so tell us your accommodation address when you book and we'll confirm the cost before you pay anything.

Delivery and pickup times are agreed with you when you book and scheduled in advance, around your arrival and departure. Our Lecce base is open 24/7, but a trip up the coast is scheduled in advance rather than same-day — book a few days ahead if you can.

How it works

  1. Tell us your dates, where you're staying in Polignano a Mare and which bike you want.
  2. We confirm sizes, bike availability and the delivery surcharge for the distance from Lecce.
  3. We deliver the bike to your accommodation and adjust the saddle and fit before we leave.
  4. We collect the bike from wherever you're staying at the end of your rental.

Where you can ride from Polignano a Mare

Most of Polignano's coves sit within a few kilometres of each other, which is what makes a delivered bike worth it here rather than a car. A loop north from the old town — Lama Monachile, then along the coast past Cala Paura to San Vito and Cala San Giovanni and back — comes to roughly 9 km (5.6 miles) round trip, mostly on the coast road with no sustained climbing, though it dips toward each inlet. We haven't ridden this specific loop ourselves — the distance above is based on route-planning data (OpenStreetMap routing), not a ride we've logged. Full detail on each cove — seabed, access steps, how crowded it gets — is in our guide to the beaches of Polignano a Mare.

Heading south instead, the coast road to Monopoli runs about 9.2 km (5.7 miles) one way with 28 m (92 ft) of climbing, according to route-planning data we haven't ridden and logged ourselves. Roughly two-thirds of it is paved, split between ordinary road and a dedicated cycleway, so expect some traffic on the shared sections.

A road bike handles both rides fine; for more margin on the rougher edges near the coves, take the Checkpoint ALR. For the old town sights along the way — Lama Monachile's bridge, the Belvedere Santo Stefano, Museo Pino Pascali — see our guide to things to do in Polignano a Mare, and for the wider regional picture, our cycling in Puglia hub.

FAQ

Is delivery free in Polignano a Mare?
No. Free pickup is available at our three shops in Lecce, San Foca and Calimera; delivery anywhere else is quoted on distance. Polignano a Mare is about 116 km from our base, so we add a surcharge based on that distance — quoted before you book, once you tell us where you're staying.
How far is Polignano a Mare from your base, and does that affect delivery?
Around 116 km (72 miles) by road from Lecce, about 1 hour 15-20 minutes by car. We're not based in Polignano itself, so delivery is scheduled around your dates rather than same-day — book a few days ahead if you can.
How do I choose the right bike size?
Tell us your height when you book and we confirm the right frame size before delivery, then adjust the saddle on-site. If anything feels wrong once you're riding, tell us and we'll fix it.
What happens if I get a puncture or the bike breaks down?
Every bike goes out with a repair kit and a spare inner tube for minor fixes. For anything more serious, our mechanics arrange support as fast as they can from Lecce, so response time in Polignano a Mare depends on how far up the coast you are when you call.
Do I need a licence or ID to rent a bike?
No licence is needed. Bring ID when you pick up or when we deliver, so we can match the booking to you.
Do you speak English?
Yes — ask about other languages when you get in touch.
