We don't have a base in Valle d'Itria — every bike on this page is prepared and dispatched from our shop in Lecce, about 104 km (65 miles) from Locorotondo and 112 km (70 miles) from Martina Franca by road. That's outside the three free-pickup shops we cover automatically (Lecce, San Foca and Calimera), so delivery here is arranged on request, with a surcharge based on the distance to your address rather than a flat regional fee. We put both towns on one page because they're 7 km (4.3 miles) apart — a 10-15 minute drive, or a short, mostly flat ride — and most people staying in one visit the other on the same day.
Locorotondo's old town is built in a near-perfect circle, hence the name, from narrow, gable-roofed houses called cummerse (a local building style found only in this town, with steeply pitched, overlapping limestone-slab roofs). It's walkable in under an hour. Martina Franca, 7 km away, is the largest town in Valle d'Itria, built around a Baroque centre anchored by the Basilica di San Martino — a bigger, busier base if you want restaurants and a wider choice of accommodation within walking distance of the old town.
The two towns also sit on a loop with Alberobello: Locorotondo to Alberobello is 9 km (5.6 miles), Alberobello on to Martina Franca a further 15 km (9.3 miles), and back to Locorotondo another 7 km (4.3 miles) — about 31 km (19 miles) in total, mostly on quiet secondary roads through olive groves and vineyards rather than the SS172 main road. Terrain across the loop is gently rolling rather than flat — a route generated via OpenStreetMap routing for this specific loop shows about 251 m of total climbing, mostly as several short rises rather than one long climb (this is a routing estimate, not a distance we've ridden and logged ourselves). Road or gravel both handle the paved sections; take an e-bike if you'd rather not feel the rolling terrain after combining all three towns in one day.

Both towns sit outside our three free-pickup shops — Lecce, San Foca and Calimera — so delivery here is arranged on request rather than included automatically. The surcharge is calculated on the distance from our Lecce base: about 104 km (65 miles) to Locorotondo and 112 km (70 miles) to Martina Franca by road. Tell us your accommodation address when you book and we confirm the extra cost before you pay anything, rather than us publishing a fixed regional price here.
Because the two towns are only 7 km apart, staying in one rather than the other is unlikely to change the quote by much — but we still calculate it against your exact address rather than assume, since the road distance from Lecce isn't identical for every street in either town.
Delivery and pickup times are agreed with you when you book, around your arrival and departure — scheduled in advance rather than same-day: contact us a few days ahead and we agree a window that works for you.
