Gravel bike rental in Puglia: Trek Checkpoint for white roads
A gravel bike is the most versatile way to ride Salento. Half the charm of this land is off the asphalt: white roads between olive groves, farm tracks along dry-stone walls, and coastal paths above the sea. Our gravel bike for that is the Trek Checkpoint ALR.
The bike: Trek Checkpoint ALR
Aluminium frame, disc brakes, 42 mm tubeless tyres and a geometry that stays comfortable on long days. It rides well on asphalt too, so you do not have to choose between road and dirt. It takes a rear rack and panniers, which makes it our choice for multi-day trips. Sizes from XS to 61.
Like every rental, it comes with helmet, lights, lock, frame bag, phone mount, pump, repair kit and spare tube.
Tyres and pressure on Salento surfaces
Tubeless means small thorns and punctures usually seal by themselves, which matters here: olive-grove tracks can be full of spines. We set the pressure at pickup based on your weight and the ride you plan. As an indicative guide for 42 mm tubeless:

Lower pressure means more grip and comfort, higher means less rolling resistance and more protection for the rims. The repair kit and spare tube are there for the rare cut that sealant cannot close.
What gravel means in Salento
Salento gravel is not mountain terrain. It is flat to gently rolling, with three kinds of surface:
- White roads: compacted limestone farm roads, fast when dry, dusty in summer.
- Tracks between dry-stone walls: narrower, stonier, sometimes with red soil that turns sticky after rain.
- Coastal paths: rougher, with exposed rock; ride them slowly and walk the steep bits.
Some tracks cross private land or end at a gate. The GPX tracks we give you follow routes we ride ourselves.
Bikepacking and multi-day trips
With a rear rack and panniers (30 l, +2€/day) you can carry what you need for a few days between masserie and B&Bs. A classic is the Via Francigena del Sud in stages: Brindisi → Lecce → Martano → Otranto → Santa Maria di Leuca, mostly on minor roads and white roads. We can deliver the bikes at the start and collect them at the end: see one-way rental.

We are based in Lecce, not in Bari. If you are starting in Bari, we can deliver the bikes there or arrange a Bari → Lecce one-way rental, quoted by distance. You can also take the regional train to Lecce and pick up for free.

Same as road bikes: 50€ for one day, 45€/day for 2–3 days, 40€/day for 4–7 days, 35€/day from 8 days.
No deposit and free cancellation.
Free pickup is available at our three points in Lecce, San Foca and Calimera. Delivery elsewhere is quoted by distance.
